WELCOME TO WORLDFAMILY
WorldFamily is inspired by Dr. Makanjuola Olaseinde Arigbede: Respected Doctor, Neuroscientist, Author and Smallholder farmer in Nigeria, West Africa. We come together to take action to create a world where we all have access to what is necessary for a life of dignity and fulfillment.
Our first task is to alert Civil Society to the need for food security for all, particularly in the Southern Hemisphere where we have recently seen protests and riots in many countries because of the dangerous recent rises in food prices. Many factors have contributed to this, but some of those under human control include the stealing of land from indigenous peoples by Trans-national Corporations (TNCs) for profit as well as the growing of cash crops like bio-fuels, sugar and Genetically Modified Organisms (GMOs) which are damaging the environment, bankrupting smallholder farmers and now depriving millions of people from affordable foods.
"This is an invitation for you to join us in a non-profit initiative that is not necessarily unique, as there are many others like it but, mind my words, the WorldFamily to which we invite you and your considerable talents is a serious, non starry eyed, family of committed agents of global change."

"We believe in a world where justice, dignity, self confidence, love, self fulfilment, caring and sharing define the relations of human beings to one another as well as to the gift of nature given to us all by God."
Dr. Makanjuola Seinde Arigbede
"We are determined to make our contribution to creating that world through sharing work, and I mean work in advocacy on a global scale, support for joint programmes around the world, collaborating, as in a true family, to overcome the thraldom of funders and the misery of the funded. We shall avoid like the plague, the relationship of give and take which demeans both, yet, we shall work on a large, almost utopian scale to overcome the negative impact of *neoliberalism* on human lives all over the world. We shall utilize 'celebration', music, poetry, story-telling, hard information on those issues on which we fight, etc., to achieve our goal as a happy family -- a family which is able to forgive the past through creating a different future. Will you come on board with us and actively work with this dream?"

NEO-LIBERALISM
A set of economic policies that have become widespread during the last 25 years.
In the US Neo-liberalism shows as the rich get richer and the poor get poorer.
Neo-liberalism is imposed by powerful financial institutions, eg: The IMF.
"As a leader of farmers and a smallholder farmer myself, I am keenly aware of a serious problem that, not only Nigeria or indeed Africa but the entire world is faced with. This problem is that of impending loss of *food sovereignty*, with all its attendant implications. In the farmers' movement that I am privileged to lead, we have begun work on reversing this seemingly unavoidable catastrophe. We have developed a vibrant Youth Platform built around students of Agricultural Sciences in our universities. This new movement of youths determined to combat loss of the fundmental sovereignty over what we eat, is becoming very strong and we are daily including more institutions in more states of the Nigerian Federation. We are ambitious dreamers but we are also realists in this movement. We recognise that taking on the challenge on such a wide scale could be rather asking for much but we are also aware that Nigeria is not only a huge country but this problem encompasses a much wider terrain than even Africa."
